I believe that personal growth and change occur in a safe, empowering and encouraging therapeutic setting. I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples and families explore and understand their emotional or mental health struggles.

Each individual and family is different and benefits from a variety of therapeutic techniques. In the counseling setting clients focus on how past events affect their interpretation of the present, how thoughts influence behaviors and that concentrating on the future, on goals and solutions can impact change. You can expect the use of techniques from Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, among others, to be used in sessions. Additionally, I am constantly expanding my professional knowledge and abilities through continuing education to better serve my clients.

I have extensive experience in medical social work including working many years in a dialysis center and at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Intensive Care Unit with patients and their families. I understand how chronic illness can change how we view ourselves and affect our role and responsibility within our family. Therapy can help process feelings about the medical condition and the losses that accompany physical and mental changes.

I specialize in serving first responders, military and their families. I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and worked with fire fighters in Baltimore City. This experience along with working at Camp Mabry in Austin has allowed for an appreciation of the different culture of first responders, sacrifices made for our community and country, difficulties processing traumatic events and the struggles family members may experience in supporting a loved one.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005, practicing first in Maryland and now in Texas. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland and my Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan. I am a college and professional sports fan. In my leisure I enjoy reading books, watching movies, practicing yoga, and spending time with family, friends and pets.
