Mark Trahan PhD, LCSW

Hello and welcome.  The focus of my practice is the treatment of couples or intimate partnerships/marriage, with particular emphasis on more difficult problems such as infidelity, challenging conflicts, and substance use problems.  Additionally, I work with many young adults, particularly college students, with problems related to mood, transitions, and challenges with school.  I use evidence supported interventions for all of my work, and pride myself on achieving positive results with my clients.  If you are interested in some of the modalities that I use, they include Gottman Method Couples Therapy (certified), Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (certification in process), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (advanced training), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (advanced training).

I earned my doctoral degree in social work at the University of Houston.  I am currently a member of the faculty at Texas State University in the Department of Social Work, and I teach advanced courses in counseling with individuals, couples, and families.  Due to my university position, I keep very limited counseling hours, only Fridays.
