      I’ve provided and supervised counseling services for over 30 years in a variety of settings with all age groups. I received a master in clinical social work from Our Lady of the Lake University San Antonio, Worden School of Social Work. I did further clinical training through the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where I provided clinical services in the outpatient and inpatient psychiatric service.

My experience, training and most importantly my relationships with early supervisors and mentors has convinced me of several things i.e., relationships define our sense of self; we look to our relationships for comfort and safety; when we are validated we function better and these important relationships support our continued growth and well-being.

I believe successful counseling happens when there is a joint commitment between therapist and client to create a safe place that allows each person to communicate their needs at a deeper, more genuine level, and practice more effective ways of relating to others.
